Rediscover your true self

Why come to therapy?

People seek psychological counseling for a variety of reasons: they feel overwhelmed, depressed, anxious, stressed, lonely, frustrated, and unhappy with the way their lives are going. Often they have a sense that something just doesn’t seem right. They say they overreact to small things on one hand, or on the other hand don’t care about things that used to be really important. Sometimes they feel alone and don’t know where else to turn, feeling like they’ve hit bottom. Others are generally satisfied with their lives but want to enrich and expand their sense of wholeness and wellbeing.

Be the person you want to be!

I offer an individualized approach to therapy which combines the latest research on what works in therapy with your specific needs. I help people manage and understand emotions and body signals. Clients tune into their own innate wisdom so they can have the benefit of learning from emotions without being overwhelmed by them. Difficulty with emotions–from numbing out to feeling overwhelmed and flooded–underlies many forms of mental distress, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance abuse, and relationship conflict.

In the context of a supportive therapeutic relationship, uncover the wisdom that’s already within you to be your best self. I use research on neuroscience, brain plasticity, relationships, emotions, and mindfulness to help my clients work with their bodies, minds, and emotions. Although life always has its struggles, you can learn to manage transitions, interpersonal conflicts, uncertainties, and stress by tuning into the subtle signals in your body and emotions. These signals, when understood and acknowledged in the context of a supportive relationship, can guide you towards actions which are congruent with the person you really are and want to be. We can work together to help you create a more fulfilling and satisfying life.
